My name is Mateos, I am currently working at the customer site of GFR Oberpfaffenhoffen as a Spacecraft Database Analyst for the Galileo project, supporting system engineering for Space and Ground segment operations.

What is the history behind your job at Telespazio VEGA (Which decisions, interests or events led you to the position you are in today)?

The decision to join Telespazio came because of the interesting challenge to join one of the biggest European projects to provide Europe with Galileo, its own navigation satellite system. Telespazio VEGA gave me the opportunity to join the project as a Spacecraft Controller. Alongside, the internal training campaign, supported by Telespazio for career development in the highlight of the customer needs, allowed me to be promoted, after 5 years, to work as Database Analyst for the Galileo project.

What does a typical workday for you look like?

My typical workday depends on the situation but mainly it is filled with spacecraft database management, which includes operational database development, analysis, implementation and validation of DCRs (database change requests) coming from subsystem engineers or the satellite manufacturer, anomalies investigation, analysis of data to support Flight Operations.

What do you like about your job? What makes it so unique for you?

My favourite part of the job is the continuous process of learning in a collaborative environment.

What has been your highlight so far?

Joining an exciting project like Galileo from the very beginning and have been part of the team that supported the pre- and post-launch activities in the deployment of the constellation.

What do you perceive as a strength of Telespazio VEGA?

In my opinion one of the main strengths of Telespazio VEGA is the ability to offer international working environments with a great diversity of skills and experiences, which adds value to being part of the company, as this creates an environment of success and competitiveness.
