We are looking for two experienced Engineers in our Operations & Engineering Division on-site our customer EUMETSAT in order to support the Copernicus Programme and Service Management Office. The position Is full time and permanent.

Copernicus Programme is a multi-mission and multi-satellite programme covering the different Sentinel missions out of which EUMETSAT is and will be operating several different satellites, such as Sentinel-3, Sentinel-4, Sentinel-5, and Sentinel-6, but also utilizing the data of EUMETSATs ongoing missions such as MSG, Jason-2, Jason-3 and the Metop-A/-B and -C satellites.

Your tasks will cover different engineering tasks such as:

  • Identification and record the documents, software/hardware items to be under configuration control and contribute to the release of relevant change and configuration lists and reports;

  • Organization of Anomaly and Change/Configuration Control Board meetings with following up on actions;

  • Follow-up end-to-end applicable anomaly and change processes with the related action items;

  • Follow-up end-to-end software, hardware and document deployments on controlled systems and facilities;

  • Follow-up Verification/Validation Test Reports;

  • Maintaining and Updating the Configuration Management database;

  • Verification of the hardware and software configuration status by performing configuration audits and inspections;

  • Contribution to hardware and software configuration status, project and programm reviews, definition and implementation of change and configuration management requirements, improvements of the Configuration Management processes, procedures, guidelines and the provision of training and coaching sessions to users and other stakeholders


  • University degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field;

  • Expert knowledge and at least 5 years of practical experience in conducting and implementing change and configuration management activities on large scale software-centered systems in a development or operational environment (preferably for high-availability system like e.g. processing/production chain, data centers or satellite systems);

  • Practical Experience in specifying or reviewing change and configuration management plans, processes and working practices;

  • Experience in software programming;

  • Experience in providing training sessions to a wide range of users and stakeholders

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of a Configuration Management Quality Assurance or Project Management standard (e.g. ISO, ITIL, ANSI, ECSS, CMMI);

  • Knowledge and experience of management tools (e.g. Serena Dimensions CM, Jira, Clearcase, Remedy, SBM,…);

  • In-depth knowledge with project development methodologies, in particular on change and configuration management including the definition or review of upstream source code configuration management requirements, control of configuration evolutions of systems (e.g. software, hardware, databases, satellite and ground system procedures, documents, media, COTS software, COTS licenses,…), up to testing activities and deployment of new releases on configuration controlled environments

Desirable Skills

  • Experience acquired in the frame of European or International space projects;

  • Administration of a change and configuration management or a business process management tool

  • SQL programming;

  • Programming with a scripting language such as perl, python or;

  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools
